PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO CURRENT REGULATION THE UK AUTHORITIES WILL NOT ALLOW SOUTH AFRICANS TO RETURN TO THE UK ON A TEMPORARY PASSPORT.

OPENING HOURS ARE:

The office dealing with South African passport holders will be opened from 08h45 to 12h45 Monday to Friday except on public holidays. Collections will be from 08h45 - 12h45.
Telephone Hours for the Home Affairs Section are between 15h00 - 17h00
Please note: no appointments neccesary; this is a walk in service.

Payments must be made in British Pounds in a form of cash, bank draft or postal order.
Postal orders and bank drafts must be made payable to SA HIGH COMMISSION.
Temporary passport applications made by post must be sent by special delivery envelope and must have another fully paid self addressed special delivery envelope enclosed for the return of issued documents if not collecting in person. Your special delivery envelope may be used if the application is incomplete
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
No Fingerprints are taken for children under the age of 15 ½ years of age.
Proof of dual citizenship.
An application for a temporary passport is considered in conjunction with an application for a SA passport (refer to requirements for child SA passport).

REQUIRED APPLICATION FORMS

Passport application form (DHA-73 form) (Actual form).

Determination of RSA citizenship (BI 529 form) (Actual form). The form is COMPULSORY for all South Africans and evidence of any foreign citizenship must be provided where applicable.

Email address in clear block letters to be indicated on each application form.

4X Passport sized photographs. Please check the photograph specifications before taking the photographs. Applicants who are 15½ years old and those who do not have identity numbers MUST provide 6 passport sized photographs. (In cases where the applicant is not present at the time of application please endorse one photograph)

2X Certified copies of photo page of the passport or ID book. Applicants who will be applying in person at the High Commission will be assisted with the certification of their documents during the application process. They must ONLY have the original document and copy of the document to be certified.

2X Certified copies of applicants full unabridged birth certificates reflecting particulars of both parents. Applicants who will be applying in person at the High Commission will be assisted with the certification of their documents during the application process. In case of divorced parents, consent of both parents are required unless SOLE CUSTODY has been awarded to one parent in which case the court order to this effect must be submitted. All documents issued outside of South Africa must be officially translated and legalized by the relevant authorities.

Should both parents not be present at the day of submission of the application written consent from the absent parent must be submitted in addition to the signatures on form DHA-73 section C.

Sworn statement detailing how your passport was destroyed or damaged – if passport is damaged or destroyed.

Written consent from both parents (if applicants are under 18 years).
